Welcome to the new landing spot for my work!

Dear Ones,

Fall is here and I couldn’t be happier about this. This season is my favorite; it is the start of cozy season or The Long Dark as it is called here in Washington.

I have recently decided to change the name of my business; it is now called Unfurl Press. Printmaking has become part of my practice in a way that I never thought it would and it is SO similar to how I work in clay. I am using almost the same exact tool to roll out slabs, am making impressions in clay with natural objects and stamps and even utilizing my blocks from printmaking to make clay objects. I am excited to be carving blocks that are fun and meaningful.

To unfurl is to witness something unfolding; whether it be a flower, an idea, a body of work, so on and so forth. Philosophically and visually, I am drawn to images that speak to anticipation or potential of something to come. In the past year, I’ve become very much into the slowness in which things develop; relationships and work, nature and nurture. I haven’t always done this and I believe my personal growth has been a huge part of this discovery. I’m taking my time for the first time in decades and it feels amazing.

Unfurling always,

D
